Two internal trophies were awarded this week, based on last year’s performance.
Ethan Quayle (F) has been awarded the Michael Nash Trophy for improvement in Target Rifle Shooting. Michael Nash was the Master in Charge of target rifle shooting at the College for many years and it was under his coaching that the College won the prestigious Ashburton Shield five time in a row. Many of those in the team at that time are still shooting at a high level. Previous winners of the trophy include Mr David Nuthall, the current Master in Charge.
Ethan recently scored 49.5 out of 50 shooting at 300 yards at Bisley. He has persevered for many years and is fully deserving of this prestigious trophy.
This year’s Captain, Elina Smith (W), has been awarded the James Postle Trophy making the “greatest contribution to the rifle team through shooting, coaching or leadership.”
James Postle is another legendary past Master in Charge who began the careers of many outstanding shots.
Elina made a superb all-round contribution to the rifle team last year, being proactive and keen. She was invited to tour South Africa with the GB Under 19 team earlier in the year and Canada with the British Under 18 team in August. Unfortunately, neither tour occurred. Elina continues her outstanding commitment to the team this year in her role as Captain.
