Last week saw the world troisième of the Epsom College MUN Society Conference: EPMUN. We welcomed over 90 students from Alleyn’s, Christ’s Hospital, Guildford High School, Kingston Grammar School, and Royal Hospital School, among others, and the Secretary-General, Caroline Lansdown, has written about the experience below:
EPMUN saw students from both Epsom and beyond take part in our annual conference. Led by myself as Secretary-General and Emily Vandrau (R), we welcomed more students than we have ever had which made for some fierce but lively debate. There were a variety of topics taken to the floor, such as combating rising extremist groups in Africa, the Qatari blockade, gender-selective abortion and the limiting of the negative impact of single-use plastic and microplastic on the global marine environment. I was so proud going around committee rooms and seeing people confidently analysing and arguing in order to reach cohesive resolution. I can justifiably say that this conference has been a success; a noteworthy conference in the bright legacy of the Epsom MUN Society.
