The third annual Jazz Night was a spectacular evening of high-quality music-making. Pupils, staff and special guests entertained a packed Big School of family and friends of the College with a variety of classic and contemporary jazz standards. There were solo performances ranging from Middle Fourth to Upper Sixth, and each set was rounded off by the College’s Jazz Ensemble and Big Band.
The Director of Music, Mr Paul Johnson-Hyde drew attention to the particularly polished performances this year and the notable talent coming through in the younger years. He also thanked the trio of staff accompanying the soloists for sharing their expertise with the pupils: Mr Walker (keys), Mr Osborn (drums) and Mrs Wilson (bass). The opportunity to share the stage with such accomplished professional musicians is an unforgettable experience for these young performers.
