The U14As finished third out of eight teams in the inaugural Hobbs T20 Trophy competition held here last Thursday and Friday.
Epsom beat Ashford, Tiffin and St John’s, just losing out to The Leys School. Harry Jackson (P) took many wickets including 4-2 against St John’s. Luka Woods (Fa) scored lots of runs including 80 against St John’s, while Jasper Lawler (P), Aarav Rajnikanth (Fa), Tom Cunningham (F) and Lucas Schmid all stood out with impressive performances.
On Saturday against Reigate Grammar, the boys dominated proceedings, winning every match.
The 1st team recovered from 11-4 to chase down 170 to win by five wickets, with Tom Allen (Fa) and James Webster (Fa) scoring half-centuries.
There was another win for the 2nd XI too, with Luke Marsh scoring a 50.
The U15As won their eighth match out of nine this season thanks to another good team performance.
There were also wins for the U15Bs with Leo Hales taking four wickets and the U14As for whom Luka Woods (Fa) took five wickets.
The U14B team’s victory means they have gone the whole season winning every one of their 10 matches, and most of them very comfortably, which is a remarkable achievement, so well done to the boys and to coaches Mr Wallace and Mr Conway.
The junior sides struggled against Reigate Grammar but John Warfield (GH) with four wickets and Nicholas Cavaliere (Wa) stood out in these games.
The sports star of the week is Middle Fourth Will Hewett (H). He scored an unbeaten half-century on Monday for the U14Bs against Dunottar to help the team to victory. He then followed that on Saturday with an unbeaten 121 against Reigate, to finish the week with 178 runs without being dismissed.
