On the last full day of the Lent Term, with half-term holidays on their mind, a group of around 30 pupils went to watch the latest German play by the Onatti Theatre Company, hosted by Reed’s School.
Plenty of drama was guaranteed in this entertaining story about two sisters who have a strong tendency to fight about almost anything that surrounds them. The younger sister constantly tries to interfere with the older one’s plans and does so very successfully, making for a number of surprising, comical moments.
M4 pupil Taiga Heron (Rn) was invited on stage and suddenly became the centre of the girls’ battle, before joining in with a game of darts and acting as a fashion adviser for one of them.
The German Department has been organising these theatre trips on an annual basis. KS3+4 foreign language plays are undoubtedly very different from any West-end production, but they are an excellent way for pupils to engage with the subject and to gain motivation for further study.
