The girls competed in their first match of the season at Hurstpierpoint and, despite having only one week’s preparation, they finished third overall out of 13 schools. A fantastic effort.
There were a number of notable individual performances on both track and field. In the seniors, the standout performers were Adahna Ekoku (Rv) who won the Hurdles and the Long Jump, Grace Crompton (R) who placed 1st in the 200m and Triple Jump, Liv Wilde (R) 1st in the 3000m, Ella Nigrelli (Rv) 2nd in the Javelin, and 1st place for the 4x100m relay team consisting of Ellie Cooke (R), Adahna Ekoku (Rv), Sophie Gee (R), Grace Crompton (R).
In the Inters, there were strong performances from Anna Russell (R) who placed 3rd in the 1500m, Jess Alexander (Rv) 3rd in the Discus, and Lois Lillie (Rv) 3rd in both the 100m and 200m.
In the Juniors, the standout performer was Farrah Stephens-Martin (M) who came first in the 100m, 200m and the Long Jump. She was also part of the 4x100m winning relay team that included Anouska Powell (W), Sophie Edison (M) and Thea Thompson-Brown (R).
Other highlights came in the field with Delphine Ayitey-Hammond (Rv) finishing 2nd in the Shot Put, Thea Thompson-Brown (R) 2nd in the 75m Hurdles, and Anouska Powell (W) 2nd in the 300m.
Next up for the girls is the Copenhagen Shield Co-Ed meeting on Saturday 4 May, where they will hope to build on their strong start to the season.
