On 5 March, the OE Property & Financial Services Society and the OE Legal Society hosted London Drinks at the Lansdowne Club. Over 80 OEs, parents and students attended the reception to network and hear a talk by Christian Candy (Rn 1988-93), who was accompanied by his wife, Emily, and two of his four children.
Christian spoke fondly about the College and, in particular, about his Housemaster, Neil Laing. He expressed his immense gratitude for the start in life the College had given him. He also talked about the success of his first property venture with his brother, Nick (Rn 1986-91), and how subsequent small but rapid London property transactions led him to co-found Candy & Candy, a design and development management company.
Christian has since established his own property investment company, CPC Group, and his latest venture, Orlandis Capital which seeks to invest in new developers who are providing larger scale multi-unit developments in key cities around the UK. Now living in Surrey with his family and two dogs, Christian stressed the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Following his speech, Christian fielded a Q&A session and was thanked by the event hosts, John Vaughan (R 1968-73) and Steven Kay QC (P 1968-73).
The two societies welcome all interested OEs and current/former parents, and members are encouraged to join the groups on LinkedIn, as well as attend future events.
