Epsom faced the best schools in South East England in the Zone finals competition, including Caterham and Varndean School.
The day was to be incredibly close, resulting in a three way draw, with all teams drawing against each other 4-4. A standout performance from Alex Li (F), who won all of his matches, ensured that Epsom drew with Caterham, the Surrey Champions.
Due to the draw, individual games had to be counted up. The results would both disappoint and relieve. Epsom lost to Caterham by 1 game, 15-16, however beat Varndean 15-14. Caterham went on to beat Varndean by 1 point as well.
This result meant Epsom claimed second place, and secured a spot in the upcoming regional finals, thus earning a place amongst the top 16 schools in the UK for table tennis.
