Representatives from local charities, schools and community groups involved with Epsom College’s service programme enjoyed a superb concert at this year’s Spring Recital on Wednesday afternoon in Main Hall.
The event was to thank these local organisations for the role they have played in the past year, and for the welcome they have given to Epsom’s pupil volunteers.
Representatives this year came from Wallace Fields Infants School, Banstead Horticultural Society, The Vale Primary School, The Children’s Trust and Banstead Junior Community School.
Hosted by Sixth Form students and staff involved in the Service programme, the guests were treated to tea and homemade cakes before enjoying a concert by talented College musicians.
Superb vocal performances were given by The Barbershop Choir and Chiara Fahy-Spada (M). There were also excellent contributions from Dominic Nong (G) and Shannon Choi (Cr) on piano and Waleed Alzarooni (H) on violin.
“The annual Service recital, now in its sixth year, is a way of saying thank you to our local placement partners for their continued support with the ever-increasing number of Epsom College students enrolling on the programme. The challenge each year is to find ways to refresh what we offer, bring in more variety and opportunities, whilst working with individual timetables to ensure that volunteering becomes part of the school day. This could not be done without the supportive partnerships we have built.” said Service Coordinator, Roshie Watkins.
