This year’s Harvest Festival was in support of The Epsom and Ewell Foodbank, which provides much-needed food supplies to people in crisis. The whole-school effort saw pupils and staff collect thousands of crucial items to help re-stock the local Foodbank.
Mr Jonathan Lees, who helps to coordinate the Foodbank, delivered a speech in Chapel on the growing need for food supplies. His message to ‘always notice’ and take heed of the everyday poverty in our community is an important one, which really resonated with pupils.
The Epsom and Ewell Foodbank opened in October 2012 and in the years since opening, the team has fed almost 15,000 people, with around 200 hours of volunteering required per week.
