A fine victory for Epsom’s Junior Golfers against a traditionally strong golfing school. Epsom won holes at crucial moments today to win a memorable match.
Liam Colohan (P) and Will Hewett (H) – Lost 5 and 4.
The opposition’s top two golfers (handicaps of 3 and 8) showed their class by being level par after 14 holes. For Captain Liam and Will this was always going to be very difficult but considering the difference in handicaps they did really well to keep the game going until the 14th hole.
Oscar Lent (Wa) and Joss Wells (Hu) – WON 2 and 1.
When Oscar and Joss focus on the task at hand, they are an extremely strong pair. Standing on the 17th tee they were just one up and the pressure was on to deliver good golf when it mattered. Joss split the fairway with his drive, Oscar played a delightful chip to 10 feet and Joss shaved the hole for an easy win. Joss and Oscar love foursomes golf and it is delightful to watch.
Alex McWilliam (Fa) and Jamie Reid (Rn) – WON 5 and 4.
Both struggled to start with but found their rhythm on the back nine to play par golf from 10 to 14 to win easily.
