Several DT trips took place last week, with pupils visiting the London Design Fair at the Old Truman Brewery, and the Design Museum. The Upper Fourth pupils visited the Design Museum for a workshop on materials, before completing tasks related to their GCSE theory. After lunch they went to the V&A to see The Future Starts Here exhibition, the Dr Susan Weber Furniture Gallery and the MultiPly Installation, commissioned as part of the London Design Festival.
The Fifth Form visited the London Design Fair at the Old Truman Brewery, which also contained the exhibition, Material of the Year, which places the spotlight on a material currently holding precedence in the design world.
For 2018 the Design Fair is exploring this year’s most loathed material: plastic.
Pupils also visited a lighting show, The Darc Room, a curated, creative lighting exhibition for specifiers, designers and engineers, offering inspiration and solutions for their GCSE NEA projects.
A group of Upper Fourth and Lower Sixth pupils also had the opportunity to attend the London Design Fair as a voluntary trip.
