The School is located approximately one mile from Epsom town, below Epsom Downs, in fine buildings set in a beautiful tree filled campus of some 72 acres. Founded in 1855, the College has high academic standards and offers a very wide range of extra-curricular activities. The College’s original foundation is The Royal Medical Foundation and links with the medical profession remain strong.
The College has a long history of excelling in sport. Pupils benefit from being coached by our experienced and skilled staff; many of whom played professionally in their chosen field. Epsom College boasts wonderful grounds with indoor and external sporting facilities, including pitches, courts, and a professional grade water-based AstroTurf hockey pitch.
The highly successful Multi-Sport Courses have been running for many years and endures a strong reputation locally. In response to a growing demand for activity and sports-based courses for children, during the holiday periods, the Commercial Enterprise team have enhanced further our activities programme. The offer now includes sports coaching in individual fields such as Cricket, Netball, Tennis and Football as well as Computing, Art and Drama. We now see attendees from over 80 different schools taking part. We welcome children between the ages 8 and 13 to join the varied and fun programme of sports and activities.
Role Summary
Reporting to the Sports Course Leader(s), the Sports Course Assistant’s role is to support and supervise the children attending. This will include assisting in the delivery of basic level coaching skills and techniques under the direction of the Course Leader and assisting with the general supervision of children throughout the day.
Main Duties
- Assisting and supporting the Sports Course Leader(s) with coaching relevant skills, tactics and techniques to the children.
- Assisting with the supervision of children at all times, ensuring an active, safe, fun and motivational session
- Following health and safety and Safeguarding procedures.
Required Skills
- A friendly and encouraging approach within a coaching/sporting environment.
- Experience and knowledge of playing the sport to a good standard.
- Some previous sport coaching experience is desirable.
- Fair and consistent approach in the supervision of children at all times.
- An awareness of health and safety within a sport environment.
- Experience in working with children.
- Good organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work within a team.
- An appreciation and understanding of safeguarding protocols and procedures.

Terms and Conditions
Dates/Hours: The days and times of working will be confirmed to the postholder by the Commercial and Events Manager, once numbers of attendees are finalised.
Course Dates: Monday 11th – Thursday 14th August 2025, subject to the above.
Times of working: Course Times: 10am – 4pm
(Specific hours of working to be confirmed by Lead Coach and discussed with you and could be between 08.45am-5pm)
Salary: £78.50 per full day per full day to include course preparation and end of course duties. Payment as and when worked on the course
Holiday: In addition to the rate above, holiday entitlement is calculated on a monthly basis based on the hours you have worked and have submitted for payment. The calculation is 12.07% of the hourly rate for each hour worked and the amount of holiday pay paid to you for that month will be itemised on the payslip as “holiday pay”.
Pension: The College operates the Epsom College Automatic Enrolment Scheme. The Scheme is administered by the Pensions Trust. Eligibility is based on statutory criteria. If eligible, the Employee will be required to contribute a minimum of 5% of Basic Salary and the College will contribute 4%. Employees can opt out of the scheme.
