Epsom’s Musicians Shine on Stage and in Competition

Our musicians took centre stage this week, showcasing their talents in a Lower Sixth Concert and the Pro Corda Chamber Music Competition

Lower Sixth Concert

Musicians from the Lower Sixth presented a varied programme of music to an appreciative audience of friends, family and staff this week. The concert-goers were treated to extracts from classical works including Saint-Saëns‘ Cello Concerto and John Williams’ Schindler’s List suite, alongside musical theatre and pop music performances from pianists, bassists, drummers and singers.

The concert was a testament to the breadth of musical talent at the College, with many of these performers joining the Choral Society this weekend for Mendelssohn’s Elijah, as well as performing in the instrumental competition next week.

Pro Corda Chamber Music Competition

Later this week, four outstanding College ensembles showcased their talent in the national heats of the prestigious Pro Corda Chamber Music Competition, hosted by Epsom College. The event brought together together musicians from several local schools, creating a vibrant and competitive atmosphere. Head of Performance, Gill Ford, praised our pupils for their exceptional musicality and keen adaptive listening skills, highlighting their dedication and artistry.

Representing all year groups, from Lower School to Upper Sixth, our musicians delivered remarkable performances that captivated both the audience and adjudicator, Ms Daisy Vatalaro – renowned cellist and esteemed teacher at Junior Guildhall – who commended their skill and musicianship.
