Helen Maguire was elected as the member of parliament for Epsom & Ewell in last year’s general election. She visited the College this week to share the story of her journey into politics, including her successful campaign for the Liberal Democrats as she became the first candidate to defeat the Conservatives in the constituency’s history.
After the talk, the pupils questioned Helen on a range of topics, including the situation in the Middle East, assisted dying and the influence of the Lib Dems in Parliament.
We thank Helen for taking the time out of her busy schedule to come and speak to the pupils, it was a fascinating session.
