The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Sports Centre and facilities, balancing pupil and staff use and generating important income through the commercial hiring of these facilities. They will be responsible for contributing and implementing a strategy to enhance the enterprise section of the College sports facilities.
The post holder must be able to provide a friendly, efficient service, with the highest standards of customers care for pupils, staff and visitors using the facilities. They must ensure that the operation of the Sports Centre complies with Health and Safety legislation, adheres to agreed NOP as well as best practice in all areas.

• To engage, contact and respond to sales enquiries, manage bookings effectively and solicit user feedback.
• Manage effectively online booking system.
• Manage Sports Centre budget (income and expenditure) ensuring all financial transactions are transparent and timely.
• To assist in developing the strategy for generating income steams through the commercial operations of the Sports Centre and grounds to increase the current financial revenue targets. The post holder will create and action development plan in conjunction with the Head of Commercial Operations and Director of Sport.
• To contribute to the implementation of new ideas for the improvement of the facilities.
• To produce timely, relevant and effective communications with Staff, pupils and hirers to inform the community of changes, events and useful information etc.
• To develop content for the Sports Centre website and social media promotional material alongside the Marketing team.
• To work with the Commercial and Events team to promote and manage and coach on internal College holiday courses and activities.
• To build strong relationships with hirers to ensure repeat bookings and customer loyalty.
• To oversee the development of the Parent’s Sports Club.
• To be responsible for the line management of Sports Centre staff: staff rota, appraisals, holiday approval, sickness and absence, recruitment and training ensuring appropriate cover and the smooth running of the Fitness Suite, Swimming pool and sports facilities.
• In conjunction with the Commercial and Events Manager, prepare the annual budget for the Sports Centre. Managing and monitoring its subsequent implementation.
• To provide advice and implement a Health and Safety plan, and review, update and implement agreed and appropriate policies and procedures for all the College’s sports facilities.
• To manage and supervise the use of the facilities and equipment, ensuring the safety and welfare of all users, offering appropriate training, guidance and advice as and when necessary.
• To maintain the high standards of cleanliness and operation within the building and equipment, arranging servicing and repairs as necessary.
• Manage an inventory of all assets, equipment pertaining to Sports Centre and facilities.
College Sport
• To liaise with the Director of Sport, and other sports staff, to confirm the College events programme and prepare the facilities for groups and events as necessary.
• Run and manage the sports offer for the College staff, enabling equity in access as much as possible a part of Staff Wellbeing and the promotion of an active workforce during both term time and non-term time. This can include staff swim times, staff football and staff use of the fitness suite.

Essential Qualification, Experience and Skills Requirements
• Evidence of successfully leading and managing a team of staff.
• Experience working in a Sports Centre or similar customer facing operation.
• Must be willing to work shifts including evenings and some weekend work.
• Demonstrate ability to contribute to strategic commercial objectives and implement these effectively. driven and commercially focused.
• Demonstrate excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently or within a team, with a highly proactive, flexible and positive approach to all duties and responsibilities.
• Evidence of being a problem solver.
• Demonstrate a passion for sport and an understanding of sports development.
• Demonstrate the existence of strong administration skills and attention to detail.
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, high level emotional intelligence with a sense of humour and an enabling attitude.
• Have competent ICT skills and use of Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook, including the ability to manage online booking system.
• Experience managing budgets and financial acumen.
Desirable Qualification, Experience and Skills Requirements
• Experience of working within a school environment.
• Experience of having worked within a sport or related industry.
• National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.
• Other sports qualifications.
• Coaching qualification Level 2 or 3
• Health and Safety qualifications.
• First Aider
The selection panel reserves the right to enhance any or all of the desirable criteria to attain a manageable field
Terms and Conditions
Salary: £35,000 pa reviewed annually, and paid monthly in arrears on 25th of the month.
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, working 5 days per week throughout the year. One Saturday working required every four weeks when the Monday will be taken off. Occasional Sunday working will be required to support particular planned events.
The expected hours are:-
Monday 10.30 – 18.30
Tuesday 14:00 – 22.00
Wednesday 10.30 – 18:30
Thursday 14:00 – 22:00
Friday 10.30 – 18.30
The times of working may change to meet the needs of the Department when necessary. The hours will, however, remain at 40 hours per week. There may be an opportunity for some flexibility on the hours of working following a period of induction, familiarisation of the role and successful probationary period.
Holidays: The holiday entitlement is 28 days paid holiday per annum including bank holidays increasing
one day per year up to a maximum of 33 days per annum including bank holidays.
Pension: The College operates the Epsom College Automatic Enrolment Scheme. The Scheme is administered by the Pensions Trust. Eligibility is based on statutory criteria. If eligible, the Employee will be required to contribute a minimum of 5% of Basic Salary and the College will contribute 4% in compliance with current legislation.
