The Academic Support Department is able to cater for pupils with mild special educational needs and disabilities, and our qualified and experienced specialist teachers provide a range of provisions for our pupils.

Admissions

The Head of Academic Support works closely with our Admissions Department to identify pupils who have a SEND diagnosis and who may require additional support when they enter the College.

We ask that all parents applying for a place at the College share any specialist/medical reports during the admissions process. This is so we can make any reasonable adjustments during interviews and entrance exams.

Whole School Approach

Integral to our success with pupils, is close liaison with parents, housemasters, housemistresses, tutors, subject staff, the Medical Centre and other agencies.

Support at Epsom College is a whole school approach which is reinforced by the expertise of the Academic Support Department. For those pupils who need further specialist support and tuition, tailored lessons are provided to help the pupils flourish and achieve, in spite of the challenges they may face.

The support lessons are provided at additional cost, take place outside the curriculum timetable and the fee is added to the termly bill. As part of our school routine, internal individual screening assessments may be conducted if a pupil is not making the expected progress.

Exams & Access Arrangements

The Head of Academic Support manages all access arrangements for internal and external examinations and works closely with the Exams Officer to ensure all access arrangements follow the JCQ and CAIE guidelines. 

If a pupil receives an exam concession, then we may ask that an updated report is completed by our centre-approved Educational Psychologist, or by our in-house specialist assessors during the Middle Fourth year (Year 9).
