This year’s Boarders’ Halloween party started off in usual order with scary costumes and lots of food. The monster-sized Halloween cakes were particularly delicious. It was truly encouraging to see that just about every single boarder stayed on after the food, to chat, play games and socialise with pupils from different year groups and houses.
Congratulations to Yasmin Canty who won the prize for best costume, with Sasha Kryukova and Sissi Dong coming a close second and third – true creativity was behind their costumes and make-up.
However, the highlight of the evening was the ‘trick-or-treating’; two large groups of pupils walked a route between 13 staff members’ houses and managed to scare and entertain in equal measure. Sweets were consumed by the kilo and pupils were absolutely delighted to see a different side to their teachers – including the Head – opening doors in casual clothes, accompanied by various partners and pets. Even the Medical Centre got a frightening visit.
Leaving Miss Frankland and Miss Kennedy exhausted at the end of the evening, all pupils returned to their houses with bucket-loads of treats and one thing only in mind: next year we do it all over again!
