ROGER PAICE Crawfurd 1959-1964

From Roger’s brother, Richard Paice (Crawfurd 1954-1961)

My younger brother, Roger, died on 9th August 2024, after a long battle with Parkinsons.

At Epsom he excelled at cricket and played in the 1st Eleven. From Epsom he went on with an Exhibition to Jesus College, Oxford, where we both were for a year. He then took a new course, Engineering and Economics, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

With the time spent in the French wine regions, Roger had previously gained a great knowledge of their wines, and went on to be the President of the Oxford Wine Society.

From Jesus, he followed me into a year at INSEAD , a multi-lingual business school in Fontainebleau. He played golf successfully for the INSEAD team.

He subsequently joined Cargill, the American grain trading company in Geneva, and became a competent skier. From there he joined the Bank of Nova Scotia in London and went on to a career in banking in London. He finally took a degree at the London School of Economics.

Roger married Nicole, the sister of an INSEAD, and they have three children, Karen, Ian and Eric.

He will be greatly missed.
