An Unforgettable Adventure for our Youngest Pupils

Each year, Epsom College welcomes around 110 eager Year 7 pupils, kicking off their College journey with a memorable team-building adventure off site

The three-day trip offers the perfect chance for our Year 7 pupils to bond, form new friendships, and strengthen their sense of unity before they embark on their school life together.

The pupils enjoyed an action-packed three-day retreat at PGL Marchants Hill, filled with thrilling and challenging activities. We arrived on Wednesday afternoon, just in time for a hearty lunch before diving straight into our first activity. The pupils tackled a variety of challenges, from archery and the giant swing to wilderness survival skills like tent-building. They also faced off in laser quest, soared down the zip line, climbed Jacob’s Ladder, tried their hand at rifle shooting, and even took on the trapeze. Each activity encouraged leadership, teamwork, discipline, and most importantly, the courage to step outside their comfort zones.

After a busy first day, the pupils settled into their accommodation, gearing up for their ‘silent’ disco – which wasn’t so silent by the end, with plenty of enthusiastic dancing and a few hoarse voices. Thursday and Friday were packed with even more activities, keeping the energy high throughout.

Despite the damp weather, spirits remained high. Head of Year 7, Mark Farmer, said, “As the photos show, both pupils and staff had a fantastic time outside of the classroom – developing friendships and memories to mark the start of their Epsom career. The Year 7s represented the College fantastically, showing respect, ambition, and integrity throughout the trip.”
