Epsom’s 34th Music Festival for Local Children

We welcomed pupils from eight local junior and prep schools to take part in our annual Music Festival

Over 100 Year 5 children – from Donhead, Eaton House Boys, Falcons School, Hurlingham, Rowan Prep, The Study Prep, Thomas’s Fulham and Wallace Fields – enjoyed a full day of singing and music-making, culminating in a concert in a packed-out Big School, attended by their families.

Every year Epsom’s Director of Music, Paul Johnson-Hyde, hosts the festival and chooses a theme for the occasion. This year the theme was ‘Traditional Music from Around the World’, taking pupils on a journey through music which included various gospel and folk traditions from England, North America, Brazil, and South Africa.

“The pupils impressed throughout the day, both in their positive attitude during rehearsals and their passion for singing. It’s great to see that singing continues to thrive.” Epsom’s Director of Music, Paul Johnson-Hyde.

The children also enjoyed listening to both solo and part song performances from Epsom pupils from our recent Inter House Choral Competition.
