The day started with a service of Celebration and Thanksgiving in Chapel, led by Canon Andrew Haviland.
Rosebery was the College’s first Day House, and in 2008 became one of six girls houses. Today, it is one of four girls day houses at the College.
OEs, ranging in years from ’56 to ’86 came together in the marquee on Wilson Pitch. Guests were able to catch up and reminisce by a specially selected archive display, with thanks to College archivist Rebecca Worthy.
The Head, Sir Anthony Seldon, joined OEs prior to lunch and gave a welcome speech. Former HMM Dr David Young also spoke to guests, recalling life in Rosebery past, whilst a current sixth form student then told of life in Rosebery today. She focused on some house achievements, including winning the Inter-House Cross Country Championships on Epsom Downs, and second place for athletics on Founder’s Day.
Despite a fair few sudden downpours, OEs stayed dry and in high spirits in the shelter of the marquee. They enjoyed drinks and a delicious sit down lunch, followed by strawberries and ice cream.
The day finished with pupil led tours of the College, including Rosebery House itself, the brand new state of the art sixth form centre The Mermaid, and the College library, which was fondly remembered as the old gymnasium.
We would like to thank all those attended for taking the time to revisit and reconnect with the College, and do hope to see everyone again soon.
