As has been the case since anyone can remember, AGI Day was once again held on a fine day. The Corps were delighted to welcome the inspecting officer Commodore James Farrant RN who was impressed with everything he witnessed, and commented on the enthusiasm of the cadets and the enormous commitment displayed by Epsom’s staff. Special mention went to RSM cadet Leo Skingley.
The day began, in the time-honoured tradition, with service in the Chapel of St Luke. The College was honoured to host The Revd Canon Michael Parker KHC CF who gave the sermon. Canon Michael commented on how impressed he was with our pupils, cadets and staff, and commended Epsom for its CCF.
Following Chapel, the cadets then took part in the parade, inspection, march past and the honour guard – in front of an audience of parents, staff, pupils and OEs.
After lunch, cadets competed in the inter-service obstacle course on Wilson pitch. The highly sought-after trophy was won this year by the Army Section – congratulations to them for a fantastic and well-deserved victory.
A significant feature of AGI is the Gun Run, which this year was won by the Royal Navy section. The Honour Guard was led with distinction by Flo Tanguy. Her team practised and produced a faultless drill display in front of the VIPs, parents, OEs and cadets.
The Inter-House CCF competition was keenly contested. Trophies were won by Forest, Murrell, Raven and Fayrer. The CCF Cup was won by Holman.
All cadets, without exception, should be extremely proud of their efforts and were wonderful ambassadors for the College.
