Four of Epsom’s elite chamber music ensembles took part in the National Semi-Final of the Pro Corda Chamber Music Competition at Sevenoaks School. The adjudicator, Mr Andrew Quartermain, CEO and Artistic Director of Pro Corda, was impressed with the very high standard of musicianship from all of the performers in each ensemble. Groups progressing to the National Final will find out in a week or so, after the other semi-final rounds have taken place.
All of the pupils involved should be very proud of how they performed and represented the College in this national chamber music competition. When each group had finished their performances they were also invited to take part in a short masterclass. At the end of the afternoon, there was an improvisation session involving the whole cohort to round off a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
