Lower School Pupils entertained an appreciative audience in Big School on Monday evening. The programme showcased a diverse range of solo and ensemble performances as well as Lower School ensembles. The Lower School Orchestra, under Mr Paul Johnson-Hyde’s direction, opened with Vivaldi’s ‘Autumn’ and ‘Winter’ themes, before dazzling with the Finale from Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite.
Led by Assistant Director of Music Mr Freddy Wickham, the Junior Blues and the Third Form Choir stole the show. The Junior Blues serenaded with Duke Ellington’s Don’t Get Around Much Anymore, while the Third Form Choir brought the evening to a triumphant close with Can’t Stop the Feeling! by Martin, Shellback, and Timberlake.
Parents were also treated to a wide variety of solo items offered by pupils in both year groups of the Lower School. Director of Music Mr Paul Johnson-Hyde was able to confidently declare the concert to be one of the highest-quality Lower School Concerts he had witnessed – a testament to the passion and perseverance of our pupils.
