In October, over 80 Wilsonians’, along with their guests, families and children attended the Wilson House Reunion, hosted by Helen Tranter, Director of Development. The reunion was an incredibly warming day rich with recollection and memories.
Guests included three former HMMs of Wilson: Roger Lane (HMM 1974-1989), The Revd.Canon Deborah Parsons (HMM 1996-2007) and Kirsty Tod (HMM 2007-2016). Family members represented former HMMs no longer with us; the son & daughter of Mark Salusbury (HMM 1970-1974) and the sister & nephew of Rob Worrall (HMM 1989-1999).
The day started with a heartening Chapel Service led by Canon Andrew Haviland with readings by Matt Copeland (Wilson 1989-1994) and Céline Winmill, the Acting Wilson HMM. College Governor, George Pincus (H-S/Forest 1955-1961) delivered a historical overview, reaffirming the ever-important message of benevolence in the community and the value of looking after one another. A befitting tribute to Sir Erasmus Wilson, surgeon and dermatologist, of whom Wilson House honours.
Following the Service, the OE Development Team hosted a drinks reception in Big School, allowing guests to mingle and reconnect alongside a splendid archive display from College Archivist Rebecca Worthy.
The Head, Sir Anthony Seldon, cordially welcomed all guests before lunch; a magnificently impressive buffet. Revd Canon Deborah Parsons then gave an incredibly inspiring and reminiscent talk, sharing humorous anecdotes of her time as Wilson HMM.
Life in Wilson House today was represented by current pupils, who not only prepared a speech, but offered tours of the House and College, showing OE’s the significant changes since their time at the school.
A truly enjoyable day ended with a delicious Afternoon Tea being served in Main Hall.
