In Cricket this week the Boys U15A team reached the National Semi Finals of the Inspiresport National One-Day Cup, after beating Middlesex champions Merchant Taylors’ School. Meanwhile, the 1st Girls defeated Reigate Grammar School in the National 100 Ball competition to reach the last eight.
Both these victories were hard-fought against high-quality opposition and showed the all-round talents of the Epsom squads as everyone contributed.
Two more Cricket successes this week included the U15A boys reaching the semi-final of the NatWest Cup with a win against Tiffin School, and the U13A boys reaching the semi-final of the Watcyn Evans Trophy, also with a win against Tiffin School.
Though many contributed vital innings and wickets in matches this week, individual highlights with the ball were Florence Bates (Year 10, Murrell) 5-17 and Tom Hooke (Year 7, Hutchison) 5-10, while Kit Kanendran (Year 7, Hutchison) and Thomas Palmer (Year 8, Hutchison) scored half centuries.
Huge congratulations to Jess Dyson (Upper Sixth, White) who debuted for the England Hockey U21 squad beating Wales 2-1 last weekend.
In Football, Epsom’s Girls teams had two good wins against Royal Russell. The U15A team won 2-0 with Isla Perkins (Year 9, Crawfurd) and Chia Brown (Year 9, Murrell) Players of the Match.
The U13As won 7-0 with two goals for Issy Melbourne (Year 8, Wardroper) and Summer Albert (Year 8, Glyn Hughes), with Freya Gokani (Year 7, Wardroper) winning Player of the Match for controlling the game in midfield.
These are impressive performances against an established footballing school with the girls improving with each match.
