Earlier this month Miss Smith, Senior Housemistress, travelled to Westminster School with the College’s three Springboard Scholars to attend the Royal National Children’s Springboard Foundation’s annual celebration. The event was hosted by the charity’s patron, HRH Princess Anne.
The charity’s strapline is ‘driving social mobility through access to great educational opportunities’. It has partnered with Epsom College for the past seven years.
In that time, we have worked closely with the charity, the young people’s families and their former schools to ensure they are given every opportunity and form of support possible to help them flourish. We offer fully-funded boarding places to our Springboard pupils, and develop a tailored programme to suit their specific talents.
Liviu, Kimberley and Selena, who all joined Epsom for the Sixth Form, are thriving and enjoyed sharing experiences and catching up with old friends at the event. The afternoon was a celebration of the achievements of all the pupils who have benefited from the scheme.
HRH Princess Anne gave a moving and good-humoured speech about her own experience as a boarder and her commitment to supporting others. Her Royal Highness then spoke to groups of pupils over tea and cake. It was a truly uplifting and inspiring afternoon and our pupils were thrilled to have been invited.
