Mrs Jane Garrod, the former Deputy Head of St Christopher’s School & Nursery in Epsom, tragically passed away recently. It was a shock to all who knew her as she was always full of energy and life and was an inspiration to the many pupils who went to St Christopher’s during her time at the Prep School.
At a short event held at the College on Friday 20 January, the Headteacher of St Christopher’s Mrs Bronia Grehan accepted a commemorative award, made by the College’s Design & Technology department, which will be presented each year to a St Christopher’s pupil at their prizegiving ceremony. This is called ‘The Elastic Band Award’ in recognition of Mrs Garrod’s extraordinary ability to bring people together. Mrs Garrod was always keen to ensure that no-one should feel left out. The award will be presented to the St Christopher’s pupil (aged 3-7) who has best exemplified such inclusive qualities over the year.
Former St Christopher’s pupils who now study at Epsom College presented Mrs Grehan with the award, which will now be given to Mrs Garrod’s family at a memorial service for her on Sunday.
