The aim of the programme is to inspire and engage young people in how to use technology and the cloud to solve real-world problems, explore different types of technology careers, challenge stereotypes and meet professionals in tech.
Our session was delivered by Megha Khemka, Global Account Manager at Amazon Web Services, who led the kick-off presentation before pupils worked in teams to come up with a unique idea for an app. Throughout the programme, students learn both human and digital skills as they find out what it takes to work together to create and design an app idea which, when developed, can help their community or a global audience.
The session also allowed students to work through modules, answer tech trivia questions and hear from peers about their own awe-inspiring ideas. At the end of the sessions, there were notable smiles and eager faces, keen to build their app from a simple idea. Group 1 took it a notch higher and began user interface design, which is highly commendable.
Next term we will continue to guide the pupils in building on their amazing ideas and enter into the competition as part of the programme.
