The Symphony Orchestra began proceedings with a first-rate performance of the first movement of Schubert’s ‘Unfinished’ Symphony No. 8. They were followed swiftly by the 46-strong Concert Band, who showcased their adeptness in a range of genres. There were a variety of vocal performances, with the Chamber Choir opting for tranquil and sentimental pieces, whereas the Barbershop Chorus were a little more rambunctious. Jazz enthusiasts were also catered for with first the ‘Get Downs’ Funk Band living up to their name, whilst the Big Band ended the concert with traditional flair.
