Upper Sixth pupils were treated to a Berkoff workshop, run by Annie Sutton – an inspiring theatre practitioner with 30 years’ experience working globally as a writer, deviser, actor and collaborator. As well as having a PGCE in Film and Drama, she trained with Desmond Jones in Mime and Physical Theatre and at Ecole Jacques Lecoq, a prestigious school of physical theatre in Paris. The students soaked up all the expertise from Annie, consolidated their knowledge and developed their practical exploration of Metamorphosis for their examination next term.
The Upper Sixth also explored the work of English theatre director Katie Mitchell through a workshop with Susie Ferguson, who has worked closely with Katie and regularly works with both the National Theatre and Old Vic. The students developed their knowledge and understanding of Mitchell’s practices through practical explorations and discussion and they improved their skills and understanding which will now be used to develop their devised examination piece on The Magdalene Laundries.
Our GCSE Drama students and visiting pupils from four local schools enjoyed watching their GCSE text brought to life on stage with a performance of Dennis Kelly’s DNA by Quirky Bird Theatre in Big School. A great revision tool for their summer written exam.
